Menelik - The Cofounder's son smiles during the first delivery of Hypoguard to the biggest supermarket chain in Zimbabwe where we began - scrappy and relentless. The road has had twists and turns however our determination, patience and resolve are as radiant as his smile. 


At HypoGuard Biotechnology, we are pioneering the future of sustainable, high-efficacy disinfection by building advanced HOCl generators that produce proprietary hypochlorous acid (HOCl)/anolyte solutions. Our breakthrough technology delivers a powerful, non-toxic, and eco-friendly alternative to traditional chemical disinfectants for consumers. For professional application, we're transforming industries where hygiene and safety are critical—agro-processing, food safety, healthcare, water treatment, and beyond.

 


 

The central idea that birthed Hypoguard came amid a pandemic in 2020. With the world on lockdown and conventional disinfectants in short supply, we began by questioning what solutions could be hidden in nature. Ours is a determined and focused effort  by a team of people who want to help make the world safer, healthier, and free from infections by leveraging nature as an inspiration. Our team are at the forefront of science and technology to help fight infections and cross-contamination.

 

We aim to be  leaders in the science, production, and application of hypochlorous acid:

Our Development Timeline: From Packaged Solutions To On Demand Production

 

  1. We began as a packaged consumer goods startup to address water, sanitation and hygiene needs during Covid 19 Pandemic
  2. Tested and approved for disinfecting efficacy within year one by the regionally recognised SAZ 
  3. Listed in the biggest Supermarket and pharmacy groups and amidst pandemic and one of the toughest operating environments
  4. Winner of the Global Startups Program in Dammam Valley 
  5.  Shifted from packed goods focus towards a hardware, on demand biocide generator focus to achieve bigger impact across healthcare, agriculture, food processing, hospitality and other emerging sectors
